LIFEGUARDS AND ADMISSION CLERKS

 
The City of Sigourney is now  accepting applications for Lifeguards and two (2) Admission Clerks at the Municipal Swimming Pool for the 2009 season.  All applicants for Lifeguard must have evidence of a valid certificate of Red Cross Lifeguard training and CPR certification prior to the pool opening.  Starting wage will be $7.25 per hour.  All applicants for Admissions Clerk must have evidence of CPR certification prior to the pool opening.  Starting wage will be $6.75 per hour.  Applications must be returned to the City Clerk's Office at 120 North Jefferson in Sigourney no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday February 9, 2009.  If you have any questions you may call the City Clerk's Office at 641-622-3080. Pool Rules

1) Those two years or under are admitted to the pool free when accompanied by a paying adult. No other guests may enter without paying or having a season pass. Staff member friends and relatives may not swim for free.

2) All guests entering the pool area must pay the admission fee and dress in proper swimming attire regardless of their intention to swim. In addition, each season pass holder must present their "pass" at the admission window to be admitted into the pool facilities. This includes sunbathers and parents who want to watch their children swim. Parents and guardians may watch children from outside the fence.

3) Running on the deck, rough play and chicken fights are not permitted. Flips and back dives from the side are not permitted anywhere from the pool deck. Diving is only permitted when going off of the diving boards in the deep end of the pool.

4) In order to use the deep end a guest must first show their ability to swim the width of the pool from the 4 ft. lifeguard chair and back.

5) Other than after going off of the diving board, swimming in the deep end is not allowed.

6) Inappropriate behavior and language will not be tolerated.

7) The following items are prohibited from the pool and pool area: glass and any form of glass container, gum, alcoholic beverages, and form of tobacco (chewing and cigarette), shoes, street clothes, food and pop. Water is allowed outside of the area designated for food.

8) Swimming suits are required of all guests. Clean T-shirts as upper body protection may be worn in the water. Cut-offs, sweat pants, and street clothes are prohibited in the pool and pool area. Check bags are provided for storage of items not allowed in the pool area. Patrons entering the facility in street clothes will be asked to change. If they cannot change into the appropriate swimming attire, they will have to remain outside of the fence.

9) A shower is required before swimming or after using the toilet facilities.

10) Be clean and courteous in the locker room, including flushing the toilets. Please report and problems to a staff member.

11) When asked to clear the pool, please do so in a quiet and calm manner.

12) Young children not fully potty trained must wear a swim diaper. These are porvided in the bathhouse for a fee of $1.00.

13) No pets are allowed in the facility.

14) The public phone is to be used for necessary calls and emergencies only. The use of the phone should be kept to a one (1) minute maximim per call.

15) The Sigourney Municipal Pool staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

16) A resident is defined as a person for whom their primary residence is within the city limits of the City of Sigourney.

17) The family season pass rate includes up to six individuals from a single household. An additional charge will apply to each individual over six that is added to the pass. Babysitters will be admitted with children under 10 years of age, if they present a "babysitter" ticket purchased specifically for babysitters. If the parents or other adults are with the children the child care provider is not necassary and will not be allowed to enter with the "babysitter" ticket.

18) In accordance with State Law, the pool may close temporarily if there is evidence of a fecal accident in the pool. The pool will reopen as soon as allowable under Iowa Law.

19) The City of Sigourney reserves the right to make further rules and regulations for the safety and enjoyment of the general public.
