Low to Moderate Income Survey
The Mayor and Council for the City of Sigourney would like to thank the citizens that have taken the time to return their LMI surveys. There were three hundred random surveys sent out the end of April. The City is required to have an eighty percent return rate before the surveys can be opened and tabulated by our Council of Government in Ottumwa, Iowa. The sewer treatment updates are mandated and will happen. We can help ourselves by applying for grants which can reduce the amount of funding the City will need to borrow. If enough surveys are returned and qualify the City is eligible for up to $500,000.00 in grant funding through the Community Betterment Block Grant. We urge all citizens that did receive a survey and have not returned it to the City Clerk’s Office to please do so.
