Water Department
At the Sigourney Water Department we strive to deliver quality water to residents at a reasonable rate.
Sigourney Water Works Sigourney's raw water is now a
product of 1/2 Jordan and 1/2 Mississippian aquifers waters. The Jordan
well was put on-line about July 1, 2008 and is extremely good quality.
The wells can now produce over 600 gpm which exceeds our daily demand.
Since we have put the Jordan on-line the static water level of the
existing wells has returned to the original levels and we now are in a
position to supply any industrial needs. The plant is now operated via
computer at the plant and is quite amazing. We do give guided tours of
the plant and if your group would like to see it, give us a call to set
up a tour.
We just completed a water modeling project with French Reneker and this
data has been made available to the Sigourney Fire Department for use in
pre-incident planning and we will also use this data to determine future
water main replacement projects

Did You Know?
Nearly 97% of the world's water is salty or otherwise undrinkable. Another 2% is locked in icecaps and glaciers. That leaves just 1% for all of humanity needs -- all its agricultural, manufacturing, community and personal household needs.
Remember: If you see any suspicious activity around or near the water tower or water treatment plant contact Sigourney Police Department.
